On March 23, 2014, Nanma Charitable Foundation distributed food to around 100 homeless individuals in Kalyan, Thane district, Maharashtra, in an effort to bring comfort and relief to those struggling to meet their most basic needs.
During the activity, the team encountered several children, senior citizens, and persons with physical disabilities who had no permanent shelter. Many of them struggled to access regular meals and, at times, went days without proper food. Their circumstances offered a sobering glimpse into the challenges faced by people living on the streets, with many compelled to beg to make ends meet. The team spent time interacting with these individuals, listening to their experiences and learning about the difficulties they encountered in their daily lives. The visit highlighted how easily hunger and homelessness can go unnoticed and how even a simple meal can bring relief to someone facing hardship.
The experience left us with a thought worth sharing: while enjoying our meals, we should take a moment to appreciate the food and comfort we have. If possible, sharing a meal with someone who is hungry can make a meaningful difference.
